Summer Term 2016

Last Week Of Term July 2016

Well, another year has gone by which leaves lots of wonderful memories and exiting times ahead.

The children in Year 2 have really blossomed, worked hard and flourished in their learning as well as in their own personal and social skills. It’s been a pleasure to teach them and watch them grow.

Our trip to Skegness was a real highlight during the last week. Despite the hot weather, we enjoyed visiting the Seal Sanctuary and saw lots of wonderful animals and insects. We then spent an hour on the beach playing in the sand and paddling in the sea. A great way to end our year.

We are very proud of you all. Keep working hard next year.

w/c 11th July 2016

On Wednesday 13th July, we enjoyed a musical afternoon in Year 2 where we shared with the parents all of the songs we have been learning this term.

Despite some technical difficulties, we had a wonderful afternoon spending time together, sharing fruit and refreshments and finally singing a few last songs before heading home.

Well done Year 2 and thank you so much to all the parents and friends who joined us.

w/c 4th July 2016

Year 2 have been enjoying a music programme all about ‘Treasure Island’.  We’ve learned all sorts of different songs exploring rhythm and different styles of music as well as following the story. We have learned about pirate adventures and how decision making can often be quite challenging. The children have designed and made their own treasure maps and been reading about pirates and their ships.

May 2016

As we enter the month of May, the children in Year 2 will be taking their Year 2 SATs in reading and maths. The assessments will take place in small groups and administered in a way that causes least unsettlement for the children. All of the children have been working very hard which we know will be reflected in the outcomes they achieve. If you have any questions then please come and speak to us.

April 2016

A HUGE thank you for the holiday homework, we are overwhelmed with all the wonderful Charlotte’s Webs that now decorate our classroom. They look great!

We’ve enjoyed a visit from the fire brigade teaching us all about fire safety. Hopefully your children spoke with you about this and how your homes can be kept as safe as possible.

As part of our science work this term, we have been exploring animals and their habitats. We took advantage of a sunny afternoon and went on a mini beast hunt. This was great fun as well as an opportunity for outside learning which we could then use in science, maths and writing.
