Summer Term 2
Summer is here and we are already enjoying the sun and using our outdoor space to extend our learning. Please remember to pack extra clothes, suncream and sunhats.
This term, our theme is ‘Animals’. Our theme covers the following topics:
1: Safari
2: Rainforest
3: Arctic
4: Desert
5: Birds
6: Pets
7: Animals & Their Young

Week 1
Welcome back to the last term of the year 😊. Our theme this term is all about animals where we will explore animals and habitats from the different continents of the world.
This week, our topic has been Safari and we have had great fun learning about the different animals we might see on safari including lions, elephants and giraffes! Our favourite songs this week have been ‘Do the elephant’ and ‘’Nigel the giraffe’ and we enjoyed ‘King Lion’ our story of the week.
In bucket time, we really loved our safari freeze dance which you can find here to dance with us - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocll6D3g-oI. We also loved recreating ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ with a twist to match our topic and so instead we went on a lion hunt!
Our oracy core word focus this week was ‘all’ where the children were asked to drop all the balls into the box from a height. We then had great fun with a puppet who enjoyed waving at us and so we all had to wave back.
Phonics this week has been all about ‘roar’ where we of course had to sing along to Katy Perry’s belter ‘Eye of the tiger’ and practice our loudest roars. Alongside this, we did our usual phonics activities including playdough stamp, whiteboard write, finding magnetic letters and ‘same, same’ matching small cards.
