Netball v William Alvey
On 16th October, the Church Lane Netball team travelled to William Alvey School to play their first league fixture of the season. This match marked the start of the league, with several new team members experiencing their first competitive netball match.
The opening two quarters were closely contested, with both teams displaying excellent skill and teamwork. Despite the evenly matched play, William Alvey managed to edge ahead by half time, leading 2–1.
In the second half, Church Lane attacked with determination and worked hard to reduce the deficit. The team showed great resilience and commitment; however, William Alvey were able to maintain their advantage until the final whistle.
The match finished with a narrow victory for William Alvey, 3–2. A strong performance from Church Lane and an encouraging start to the season.
Football v Winchelsea
On Thursday 9th October, the Church Lane Football team played their first league fixture of the season, hosting Winchelsea Primary School.
Church Lane started the match strongly and quickly took the lead. Showing great determination and teamwork, they extended their advantage to 2–0. Winchelsea responded well and, refusing to give up, pulled back two goals to level the score at 2–2 by half time.
The second half saw both teams battle hard to break down the defences. Despite sustained effort and commitment from both sides, neither team was able to find a winning goal.

The match ended in a 2–2 draw, following an excellent display of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship from both teams.
