Spring Term 2022

Spring 2

Week commencing 14th March 2022

This week was assessment week - we made our way through a whole week's worth of SATs tests! We also managed to fit in some music work - looking at sharing our favourite music, Computing, French, PE and even some Geography - looking at the damage that is being done to our biomes and what exactly the greenhouse effect and climate change are.

Well done to the children for completing some fabulous topic work after taking assessments in the morning.

Week commencing 7th March 2022

This week in Mathematics we have continued looking at ratio and have started to use our knowledge to solve problems around ratio. We have started our big write in English and we are using our book as inspiration for this... writing the beginning of a new story about what the villains of the piece did next.

We looked at the history of communication from the Stone Age to current times in our History lesson this week and we explored the themes behind Cubism as an art movement - exploring how artists expressed themselves through Cubist pieces.

Week commencing 28th February 2022

This week the children have been exploring the concept of ratio in maths. We have also started to write the beginning of a new adventure for The Templeton Twins based on our book. Some of these stories are absolutely amazing!

In History we began our new unit and explored how medicine has changed over the years from Ancient Egyptian roots to how Covid has affected us.

Week commencing 21st February 2022

This week we have been exploring area and perimeter in Maths. During English we have started a new text 'Templeton Twins' and have been looking at and analysing what happens in the story.

We have begun our new Art movement - Cubism as well as looking at Rainforests as a biome in Geography.

Spring 1

Our Maths has focused around algebra and fractions this half term and we studied The Hidden Forest for English. Creating non-fiction texts about fishing in kelp forests.

This half term we completed our History unit on the monarchy and began our Geography exploration of climates and biomes. The children really enjoyed learning about History in a new and formal way creating some great art work. Our Music was focused on Disco and we spent a lot of time learning about the history of disco and the social and economical factors that influenced its creation. In Art we explored the Contemporary art movement and the children created some amazing work based on this.
