We had a lovely walk to Sleaford Islamic Centre on Wednesday morning, we had a wonderful warm welcome, a tour of the masjid and a chat about the Five Pillars of Islam. We remembered lots of information from our previous learning in our RE lessons, all of the grown ups were very proud about our knowledge, our politeness and our behaviour in the mosque.
In Maths we have been working on our statistics, interpreting pictograms paying special attention to the key. The key has ranged from 1 to 2, 5 or 10. We know we have to check the key first when we see a new pictogram! We have been reading pictograms and taking information from them as well as drawing our own.

We also completed our Computing unit- algorithms. We used a map and the beebots to get from one place to another and then added in obstacles. We then had to 'debug', we know this is fixing the problem when it doesn't work. We really enjoyed this unit of work.

In Science this week we made sandcastles as part of our materials unit which we also linked to art through exploring the genre of sand art. We had to add a little bit of water to find the right consistency to make the best sandcastles! A PE lesson finished off our week, we have been practising our fielding, throwing and striking skills to hopefully play a game of rounders soon.
A regular 2 day weekend this time round - boo! Have fun.

A brilliant week in Year 2.
In English, we completed our Big Write- letter to Mr Clay explaining what happened to us and how insanely sorry we are! There are some fantastic letters- we are so impressed!

The sunshine has enhanced our abilities this week, what wonderful work we have been doing! In Maths Year 2 have continued to knock our socks off with their time telling abilities, jaws on floors at some of the effort that is being put into learning telling the time to 5 minutes. We couldnt be prouder of how hard they are working to understand some really tricky concepts.
In English we have started our new book, 'The Crows Tale'. We had an experience day watching time lapse videos of snowy woodland scenes as well as discussing the adaptations of animals to cope with low winter temperatures. We then had two more days of sentence stacking, writing about the inner thoughts of the animals, about their perilous journey as well as positive statements using repetition, adverbial phrases, noun phrases, fronted adverbials as well as question and exclamation marks.
In our PE lesson we continued to learn about striking and fielding balls, building up to a rounders game and in Science we began our new topic learning about materials by squashing, stretching, twisting and bending. Have a super weekend!

We have had wild and wonderful ideas about school uniform stealing aliens and rainbows dousing us in colour. We can't wait to read the finished products next week!
In Maths we have continued to learn about time, telling the time past and to the next hour. We are getting better every lesson at distinguishing between past and to, counting in 5's and remembering where the hour hand needs to be.
In PE we started a new unit working as a team in striking and fielding games and enjoyed the Holi festival celebrations with our multi-coloured paint packets.
Have a great weekend recovering from a busy week!
