Autumn Term 2026
Monday 7th September - Friday 11th September
Welcome to Year 3!
This week we have been blowing Miss Simpson away with our behaviour and learning.
In Maths, we have been looking at place value such as number lines and counting in hundreds.
In English, we have been practicing all our skills that we learnt in Year Two and making sure that our handwriting is neat and in the lines.
In Geography, we have been looking at the countries of the UK and noting facts and differences between each.
In Science, we have started looking at food chains and how humans get energy!
In History, we have been looking at Britain and how it changed after the last Ice Age.
In Computing, we started looking at digital devices and how an input creates an output.
Finally, we had our first ever French lesson with Madame Roche and we really impressed her with how hard we work and listened.
A super impressive start to Year 3, well done everyone!
Monday 14th September - Friday 18th September
In Maths, we continued to look at number lines and started adding 1s, 10s, and 100s to different numbers.
In English, we started our new segment of learning where we will be building up our skills and knowledge to be able to create our own non-chronological report about dragons.
In History, we spent more time learning about Hunter-Gatherers and created drama pieces about what life was like for them.
In Science, we looked at the different food groups and why we need a healthy and balanced diet.
In Computing, we continued to look at inputs, processes, and outputs.
In RE, we started our topic by looking at Christians pilgrimage and we discussed why Christians may chose to go.
Finally, in French with Madame Roche, we looked at the French flags and facts about life in France.

Monday 21st September - Friday 25th September
Another fab week with Year 3!
In Maths, we finished our Place Value topic by comparing numbers and ordering numbers from biggest to smallest and vice versa.
In English, we continued our non-chronological topic by looking at subordinating and coordinating conjuctions.
In Geography, we looked at what counties are and where they are located in England. We also looked at which counties surround Lincolnshire.
In Computing, we got the laptops out and compared drawings using paper and pen, and drawings using digital apps. Check out our Facebook to see some examples!
In RE, we looked into Muslim Pilgrimage and discussed why Muslims go on them. We recalled our previous learning and discussed the differences between a Muslim pilgrimage and a Christian Pilgrimage.
In Science, we looked at why parts of our bodies need energy.
In French, we made name lables and sang some French songs.
And finally in Music, we used body precussion to create the sounds of tools on a contruction site.

Monday 28th September - Friday 2nd October
We can't believe its already October!
In Maths, we have been looking at adding and subracting in our 1's, 10's and 100's column.
In English, we have been finalizing our non-chronological report about dragons. We created two amazing paragraphs together, before setting off and doing our own paragragraph about 'what dragons look like'. Miss Simpson is really impressed by our independent work!
In Science, we looked at bones and how our body is made to protect ourselves.
In Art, we got the paints out and looke at how we can turn and bright and vibrant colour, into a muted version.
In History, we looked at Cheddar man and how our ideas about the past can change when we see primary and secondary sources.
And in PSHE, we looked at families. We discussed how families are all different and unique, and we showed this by drawing our own families.
Another great week in Year 3!
Monday 2nd October - Friday 9th October
This week, we had a lovely visit from 'Healthy Minds'. We talked about fight, flight, and freeze and what situations may make us feel these ways. We also looked at breathing and grounding techniques as ways to regulate ourselves.
In Maths, we have been really impressing Miss Simpson with how good we are are adding across boundaries in column method.
In English, we have started looking at instructions. We have been looking at how to make instructions precise by adding time adverbials and imperative verbs.
In Science, we looked at how our body is made to move. We looked at voluntary and involuntary muscles and voted on which mucles we use when (e.g., typing, sneezing, waving, breathing).
In Art, we had a great time with Miss Sewards looking at mechanical lines and creating drawings using shapes.
In Geography, we looked at the physical characteristics of Lincolnshire and discovered that we are the 2nd largest county, but we are the 18th largest population!
In Music, we got the instruments out and recreated the noise of a constructions site by pretending to be different tools we would find there.
Now that the weather is getting chilly, we have been making sure to dress up nice and warm!
