Spring Term 2026
Week Commencing 5th January
This week, we explored the text My Strong Mind, which focuses on developing resilience. To support this learning, the children took on the challenge of making origami boats. Although this was tricky, they showed great determination and resilience by persevering with the task.
In Maths, we worked on the 3 and 4 times tables and practised division through sharing and grouping.
Our afternoon lessons included learning about animal diets in Science, locating the Lake District in Geography, and exploring different types of musical instruments in Music.
Week Commencing 12th January
In English, we focused on writing complex sentences using the conjunction if. We also revised different types of punctuation, including brackets and exclamation marks.
In Maths, we consolidated our understanding of the 2, 4 and 8 times tables, with a continued focus on multiplication and division.
During afternoon lessons, we learned about the first pillar of Islam in R.E., deconstructed images into shapes in Art, and located Ancient Civilisations in History.
Week Commencing 19th January
This week in Maths, we explored related calculations, developing our understanding of the link between multiplication and division.
In English, we continued writing sets of instructions, focusing on the use of subordinating conjunctions.
In the afternoons, we learned how to take effective photographs with a clear focus on the subject in Computing, studied the characteristics of vertebrates in Science, and practised playing the glockenspiel in Music.
Week Commencing 26th January
In English, we planned, drafted and edited our independent writing, producing our own set of instructions on how to make a jam sandwich.
In Maths, we multiplied two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers using formal written methods.
Our afternoon lessons included learning how Muslims show Akhlaq in R.E., deconstructing images into 2D shapes in Art, and studying the human features of the Lake District in Geography.
Week Commencing 2nd February
This week, we continued to draft and edit our independent writing before publishing our work, becoming true authors.
In Maths, we learned how to divide two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers using the short division method.
During afternoon lessons, we continued practising the glockenspiel in Music, explored dreams and goals in PSHE, and learned about the achievements of the Ancient Sumerians in History.
Week commencing 23rd February
Welcome back Year 3!
This week we have been exploring our new book ‘The star in the jar’
In Maths we have been looking at how we can measure lengths in mm and cm.
In our afternoon lessons we have been looking at where is Boston and what is it like in Geography and have looked at the Indus Valley cities in History. This week we also had lots of fun taking part in Rock Kidz.
Week commencing 2nd March
This week we have been comparing, adding and subtracting lengths in Maths.
In English we have been continuing to look at our story and have looked at how we can used adverbs and adjectives to uplevel our sentences.
In our afternoon lessons we have been looking at transpiration in science, how to take high quality photos in computing and have looked at balance diets in PSHE.
We also had lots of fun on World Book Day celebrating all our favourite book characters.
Week commencing 9th March
This week in maths we have begun to look at fractions, focusing on the numerator and denominator.
In Our English lessons we have been looking at how we can incorporate speech into our writing.
During our afternoon lessons we have been focusing on History where we have been looking at the achievements of the Shang Dynasty. We also went on a geography walk where we compared the features of Sleaford and Boston.
Week commencing 16th March
During our Maths lessons this week we have been looking at the whole as a fraction and how to compare and order non unit fractions.
During English we have continued to look at speech and adverbs to up level our writing.
In our afternoon lessons we have been looking at how we silhouettes in fashion design and how we take photographs and edit them in computing.
Week commencing 23rd March
This week we have become authors in English and have written our own version of the star in the Jar.
During our maths lessons we have been looking at fractions as scales and fractions on a number line.
In the afternoons we have been looking further at how we can edit photos using lighting and editing functions and have learnt about Lady Fu Hao in History.
Week commencing 30th March.
This week we have had lots of fun on our school trip to Skegness learning all about the geographical and human features.
We have also had a trip to the mosque where we learnt all about its features.
In PSHE this week we have been looking at how we can stay healthy.
