Summer Term 2026

Week commencing 1st  June

Welcome back year 3!

This week in English we have started our new book ‘Arthur and the golden rope’ we have explored the text looking at how we can use adjectives to aid description.

In our Maths lessons we have been looking at how we can convert pounds and pence.

During our afternoon lessons we have been looking at forces in Science, pilgrimages in R.E and who is Akhenaten in History.

 

Week commencing 8th June

This week in English we have been focussing on how we can use speech in our writing to engage the reader.

In Matshs lessons we have been adding and subtracting money.

During the afternoon lessons we have been looking at contact and non-contact forces in Science, the different hemispheres in Geography and how our bodies change in PSHE.

 

Week commencing 15th June

This week in English we have been writing our own version narrative based on Arthur and the Golden Rope.

In Maths we have been looking at statistics, interpreting tables and charts and creating our own.

During our afternoon sessions we have been looking t magnetism in Science, who was Cleopatra in History and how our bodies change in PSHE.

 

Week commencing 22nd June

This week we have been working hard completing our assessments in, Reading, Science and Maths.

In our afternoon lessons we have been exploring Ancient Egypt in History and Abstract art in Art. We have also been looking at pilgrimages in RE.

 

Week commencing 29th June

This week in Maths we have started our unit on time, looking at telling the time to 1 minute, 5 minutes and digital time.

In English we have started our new visual literacy unit called “Adventures of the Pits”. We have been using our inference skills to think about how the character is feeling.

This week we have also been busy planning our DT project- Savoury kebabs and we had lots of fun on Sports day!

 

Week commencing 6th July

This week in Maths we have been learning about start and end times, durations of time and am and pm.

During our English lessons we have been looking at how to incorporate speech and contractions into our writing.

In the afternoons this week we have been looking at lines of longitude in Geography, made our savoury kebabs in DT, and have looked at Islamic pilgrimages in RE.

 

Week commencing 13th July

This week in Maths we have been looking at converting minutes and seconds and units of time.

We have become authors during our English lessons creating our own extract to accompany our visual literacy unit.

Some of our Year 3’s had great fun at Rand Farm this week whilst others have been making board games and having lots of fun with Mrs SB and Mrs Hudson.
