Summer Term 2025

Week commencing 7th July

This week the children have had lots of fun on residential and taking part in projects at school such as creating board games.

We have also enjoyed our DT project this week where we have made bug hotels out of recycled resources that we have found at school and in the woods.

 

Week commencing 30th June

This week we have been planning our own version of the three little pigs, choosing our own characters and buildings. We have had lots of fun making up our own stories as authors.

In maths this week we have finished our unit on shape by making our own 3d shapes and have started our new unit of statistics where we have looked at interpreting pictograms.

In our afternoons this week we have looked at the different pilgrimages in Hinduism and Islam. We have also studied Cleopatra and considered why she is so well remembered.

We had lots of fun taking part in Sports day this week!

 

Week commencing 23rd June

This week we have been working really hard during assessment week. The children have all tried their best and have done well. They are very proud of their achievements, resilience and determination.

This week we have also had lots of fun learning about magnetism and light sources.

On Friday we had move up afternoon where we got to meet our new teacher. We are really looking forward to moving into our new classroom next year.

 

Week commencing 16th June

This week we have continued to investigate our new story in English, looking at precise adverbs, speech and similes to describe the wolf sneezing the pig’s houses down.

In maths we have moved onto our unit of shape where we have looked at acute, obtuse and right angles.

In our afternoon lessons we have looked at forces in science focussing on friction. Have had fun taking part in a circus skills workshop and have been looking at long jump in PE.

 

Week commencing 9th June

This week we have continued to look into our new story in English, looking at onomatopoeias to describe the pigs house falling down, similes and speech.

In maths we have been looking at days and hours and durations of time.

In the afternoons we have been looking at what is pilgrimage in RE and the different types of contact and non contact forces in Science. We have also looked at abstract art, considering what we like and don’t like about different artists.

 

Week commencing 2nd June

Welcome back Year 3!

This week we have been getting back into the swing of things with lour new book ‘The trie story of the three little pigs’. We have been looking at the wolfs perspective of what happened in the story and looking at some rich vocabulary to describe the wolf.

In maths we are continuing to look at time. Telling the time to 5 and 1 minute, reading the time on the digital clock and looking at time in the am and pm.

In the afternoons we have been looking at the different hemispheres in Geography, considered why Akenhaten was so hated in History.

 

Week commencing 19th May

 

It’s the end of term!

 

This week we have been working hard as mathematicians, looking at pounds and pence, we have converted, added, subtracted and found change from different amounts of money.

 

As scientists this week we have been looking at how different rocks are formed, what we can find under the ground and fossilisation.

 

As theologists we have been looking at the trimurti and tridevi in RE and how they link to the different stories in Hinduism.

 

 

 

Week commencing 12th May

 

Well done year 3 we’ve had a super busy week, and you’ve all worked so hard!

 

This week we have become authors in English, writing our own non-chronological reports on mythical creatures. We have edited and now published our writing.

 

In maths we have been looking at fractions, working out fractions of amounts for unit and non-unit fractions as well as adding and subtracting different fractions when looking at the whole.

 

This week we have also looked at the creation story in Hinduism, and how the great pyramids of Giza were built in History.

 

Week commencing 5th May

What a week Year 3!

This week we have been super busy, finishing off our book unit on the street beneath our feet, ready for our big write this week on our own mythical creature.

In maths we have continued to look at ml and l looking at equivalent capacities and volumes.

In the afternoons we have had lots of fun finding out all about busses and bus drivers as well as immersing ourselves in life as an Egyptian.

 

Week commencing 28th April

Our morning sessions have been focused around recapping our knowledge of nouns, relative clauses and speech this week, whilst our maths has been focused around weighing and measuring volume in ml and l.

In our afternoon sessions this week we have been looking at different pieces of abstract art in our art lessons and have been thinking about family roles in PSHE.

This week we also had great fun at Rand Farm.

 

Week commencing 21st April 2025

Welcome back year 3!

We have had a great week settling back into Year 3 life this week.

Our morning sessions have been focused around recapping our knowledge of nouns, adjectives and adverbials this week, whilst our maths has been focused around weighing and measuring mass in g and kg.

In the afternoons, we have been learning a free style dance routine in PE, looked at abstract art and have learnt about the Earth’s structure in science.
