The final week, before a well deserved half term break!

Year 5 have continued to work hard in all of their learning. In Maths, we have been continuign our work on angles - we learnt how to draw lines and angles with accuracy and then moved onto calculating angles around a point, on a straight line and in shapes.

In RE, we finished our work on Hinduism - looking at the different artefacts used in prayer and then at why family worship is so important. We then completed our end of unit quiz.

In History, we learnt about Ancient Mayan writing. We looked at what this could tell us about their culture and society. We will be carrying on with our learning on the Ancient Maya after half term.

In Computing, we worked on our own Podcasts this week. We planned our script and then recorded the dialogue - editing and re-aligning along the way. We then looked at how to add background music and sound effects. We will be looking at improving them further after half term.

We also had a workshop from the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, on the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike or scooter.

W/C 11th May

A busy week in Year 5! We have been flying through our Maths learning, finishing statistics with reading and interpreting timetables. We then swiftly moved onto shape, where we looked at understanding angles, classifying angles, estimating angles and measuring angles.

W/C 4th May

A short week this week, with the Bank Holiday, but we still managed to squeeze a lot in. In Maths, we have continued our work on Statistics - we looked at how to read and interpret line graphs, then tables and finally two-way tables.

In English, we completed the rest of our sentence stacking lessons for 'The Nowhere Emporium' We looked at using similes, relative clauses, symbolism, juxtaposition, dialogue and ellipsis. We then started the process of our independent write - by creating our own success criteria.
