Autumn Term 2026

12th - 16th October 2026

This week we have begun to write our own instructions on making Mr Clay's famous reward hot chocolate with a secret twist. The children began exploring and comparing fractions in Maths lessons.

We looked at how William the Conqueror changed Britain in our History lesson and explored Russia during our Geography work.

5th - 9th October 2026

This week the children began exploring instruction texts on how to make the famous 'Crater Lake Red Soup'. We explored the structure and features before beginning to write our own texts together. In maths we have continued to explore division problem solving.

The children explored using acrylic paints as a medium in art and continued choreographing their own dance in PE.

28th September - 2nd October 2026

This week the children have created their own secret reports about the mysterious goings on at Crater Lake. I've been really impressed by their dedication to this and they have created some fabulous pieces. In Maths we have explored division this week and the children worked hard mastering some tricky division skills.

In art this week the children explored negative space and continued to choreograph their own class dance during PE sessions.

21st - 25th September 2026

We have explored Crater Lake further this week - exploring the use of passive voice to manipulate the main focus of our sentences. We have explored diagrams and annotations of diagrams using technical vocabulary. We have explored multiplication this week and looked at problem solving with this as well.

We enjoyed a visit from Shakespeare's Globe theatre on Friday - so many promising actors for our play at the end of the year.

14th - 18th September 2026

We have begun exploring Crater Lake this week for our writing - looking at the setting of the story and how we can use a formal tone in a non-chronological report. We have begun to explore the four main operations this week, looking at addition and subtraction as well as factors and mulitples.

In art we have explored layering for effect.

7th - 11th September 2026

We have had a good first week back - focusing on our place value in our Maths lessons and looking at our core writing skills in English. Our Guided Reading focused on women in science and we enjoyed some map work in Geography looking at Asia.
