PE for this half term is on a Tuesday and a Friday.
30.3.26 - 2.4.26
We have moved on in Maths this week to explore circles and how to draw our own shapes. We spent much of this week finally creating our own instructions! They were amazing!
23.3.26 - 27.3.26
In English this week we continued to explore creating our own instructions for a magical potion. Our Maths moved on again to calculating angles.
16.3.26 - 20.3.26
Our Maths moved on to statistics this week - exploring line and pie charts as well as the mean. We explored a new text type in our English lessons - instructions.
During non-core this week we learnt a lot about online safety. We were really blown away by our special instructor and some of the things she showed us.
9.3.26 - 13.3.26
Maths this week has focused on the area and volume of different shapes.
During non-core we explored using paper folds for origami in our art session.
2.3.26 - 6.3.26
Our Maths lessons this week have focused on finding percentages and area and perimeter of shapes. During English, we have continued to explore sentence manipulation with relatives before planning our own setting descriptions.
Our non-core lessons have included an Art session on adding detail with icing. We also enjoyed world book day this Thursday.
23.2.26 - 27.2.26
This week we broke the mold with a Rock Kidz visit on Tuesday.
We explored Fractions, decimals and percentages in our maths work whilst focusing on sentence manipulation in our English lessons.
Non-core this week included Art lessons around fashion, Geography lessons around Rainforests and a History lesson about Henry VIII.
9.2.26 - 13.2.26
Half of Year 6 have spent this week on the residential to Paris. The children that remained explored different Art (looking at perspective and realism) and ICT (focusing on coding) activities.
2.2.26 - 6.2.26
This week we have continued to create our own non-chronological reports based on mythical creatures we have created. In Maths we have explored fraction and decimal equivalents.
History this week continued it's theme around the Wars of the Roses with a study of the Battle of Bosworth.
26.1.26 - 30.1.26
This week we have been looking at encyclopedia entries about mythological beasts - exploring the shapes of non-chronological reports and the features required for them. In Maths, we have been exploring multiples of ten and how to multiply by decimals.
Our non-core lessons have focused on the biomes we might find on Earth during Geography and the Wars of the Roses in our History lessons.
19.1.26 - 23.1.26
Our English this week has focussed on planning and writing our own section of The Arrival. During Maths we finished looking at algebra using pairs of values and then began looking at decimals.
Our non-core lessons looked at dreams and goals in PSHE as well as the idea of adaptation in Science.
12.1.26 - 16.1.26
Our English this week has continued to explore The Arrival and we have been stretching ourselves during sessions to create thoughtful writing. In maths we have moved on to equations and solving equations in algebra.
Our non-core lessons have focused on the Earth's biomes in Geography and perspective during our art sessions.
5.1.26 - 9.1.26
This week we have begun looking at writing narratives based on The Arrival by Sean Tan. We have begun our Algebra unit in maths - looking at function machines and variables.
For non-core we completed our collaborative working unit in computing by looking at how we use the internet to communicate and which things will be public and private.
