Summer Term 2021

19.4.21

This week we have been looking at a new text Hugo Cabret we have been exploring what we think has happened and making predictions using modals. In Maths we have been manipulating data using line graphs. Our Topic work has been looking at oral storytelling and cave paintings - thinking about why information was shared originally.

26.4.21

We have continued our work on Hugo Cabret - thinking about characterisation and using relatives and action words to describe as well as conveying a character's personality through what they say. Our Topic work has been looking at how storytelling has changed over time and how it is used as propaganda sometimes - for example the Bayeux tapestry.

3.5.21

Whilst reading Hugo still we have been using adverbials to add detail before looking at the subjunctive form. In Maths we have been looking at shape and exploring angles around a point and on a line. Our Topic work has been focused on how the purpose of stories have changed and where stories originated from. We then chose to cook a dish from another country before desiging a meal with pasta and making our own pasta from scratch.

We began creating our own biography about Georges Melies - a character we met in Hugo but was actually a real person. We continued our angles work looking at vertically opposite angles and learning how to use a protractor effectively. Our Topic work focused on perspective art - we learnt how to sketch an image using a horizon and a one point perspective.

24.5.21

We have been exploring and practising our reading and arithmetic skills during our core learning time. For our Topic sessions we have been exploring the human eye and looking at how light travels. We created our own tests about shadows.
